Purpose Statement
Job Title: S3- Student Support
Reports to: Stronger Connections Program Coordinator

Qualifications: Qualifications and Experience:
● Bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
● Teaching certification or licensure
● Minimum of five years of teaching experience.

Job Description: The S3-( Student Support Specialist) Character Education- Professional Development
Instructor will deliver classroom instruction that is nurturing and stimulating for students'
intellectual, emotional, and behavioral development. The S3 will also provide training and
education for classroom teachers and parents regarding mental wellness related topics.

Essential Functions:
Ability to assess the effectiveness of programs and activities
● Develop and deliver comprehensive Character Education lessons that align with approved curriculum standards and programs.
● Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel valued, respected, and empowered to develop positive character traits and ethical values.
● Support relationship building between students and teachers.
● Integrate key educational strategies and pedagogical approaches to promote critical thinking, empathy, integrity, resilience, and other essential character qualities.
● Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary learning experiences that integrate Character Education with other subject areas and real-world contexts.
● Assess students' understanding of character traits, ethical principles, and moral dilemmas through a variety of formative and summative assessment methods.
● Provide constructive feedback to students on their character development, behavior, and decision
making skills, and support their efforts to set and achieve personal goals. Serve as a positive role
model for students by demonstrating integrity, empathy, and a commitment to ethical behavior and
social responsibility.
● Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills, deepen
understanding of Character Education principles, and stay updated on best practices in the field.
● Conduct professional development for educators.
● Adhere to school policies, rules, and procedures, and contribute to a positive and collaborative school culture.
● Perform other work- related duties
Knowledge, Abilities & Skills:
Strong understanding of Character Education principles, pedagogical approaches, and best practices. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that promotes character development and social-emotional learning. Proficiency in integrating technology and multimedia resources into Character Education instruction. Commitment to fostering positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community members.
